One of the details we love most at Lake Hāwea View is the master ensuite. Crafted in beautiful Turkish travertine, it's a space that has always felt timeless.

When we discovered the original unfilled travertine in the shower was beginning to deteriorate from years of water exposure, we faced a choice: completely renovate the bathroom or find a way to preserve its original character.

Retiling the entire room would have been a huge project, and we couldn't bring ourselves to change a bathroom that still felt so elegant.

Instead, Pedro from Lakes Tiling took on the challenge. He spent considerable time researching a filled Turkish travertine that would closely match the existing stone while being better suited to a wet environment. After sourcing samples, we found one that was incredibly close—although not identical.

Pedro assured us that once it was installed, the difference would be virtually impossible to see. We trusted his expertise, and we're so glad we did.

The result is exceptional. The new shower tiles blend seamlessly with the original bathroom, preserving the look and feel we love while providing a surface that's far more practical, easier to maintain, and much better suited to everyday use.

It's a reminder that great craftsmanship isn't always about starting over—sometimes it's about respecting what's already there and finding the perfect solution to make it last.
